The annual Waldo County Healthcare Oncology Walk & Basket Raffle has been set for Sunday, Oct. 18. Registration begins at noon in the classroom (downstairs in the hospital, 118 Northport Ave., Belfast with the walk slated to begin at 1 pm.
Registration is free; there will be rain/wind jackets, t-shirts and hats for sale.
Tickets for the basket raffle will be on sale in the hospital’s classroom beginning Monday, Oct. 12, until the walk. Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5 or 15 for $10.
All proceeds go to the Oncology Patient Assistance and Mammography Funds. The Oncology Patient Assistance Fund helps patients defray the cost of cancer treatments. The Mammography Fund helps pay for mammograms and breast biopsies for patients with no insurance or insurance with a high deductible.
The walk is also meant to support cancer patients undergoing treatment; honor patients who have survived cancer; and especially to keep close of the memory of those lost to cancer.
